She speaks French, German, English and Romanian well. Her mother was a violinist and her father is a theater instructor in one of Romania's top drama schools. The Young Actor Gala Mangalia awarded her the Best Female Actor Award of 2000. She was named European Shooting Star by the European Film Promotion Board in the year 2008. The film also featured her as a character in the Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. She also played Yasim Awar in BBC's 5-episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca appeared in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven and the Romanian drama Boogie. She then had the lead role in 2014's Fury in which she played Irma Emma's German Aunt of Emma.
