Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from the household, the actress was grew up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. She suffered from an anxiety disorder caused by word associations as a young child. Ford's interest in acting began in her early years. She was a part of at the National Youth Theatre. After being admitted at the Sylvia Young Theatre School for only a few days however, Ford realised that this was not the best venue for her. Ford returned for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and, after the fourth time she applied she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall - who later appeared as Pete Tyler in Doctor Who was also one of her classmates. Ford could graduate in 1993, but she already made a TV appearance in the 1992 episode Surgical Spirit. She adopted the name Catherine Tate. Tate first appeared on television in the year 1991, appearing on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. as well as London's Burning. Alongside her usual performances in the theatre, Tate also joined in the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate was first noticed for her stand up comedy in the year 1996.
